A 46 year old trader at the Dansoman market in Accra, Ama Osah died Wednesday morning after suffering severe discomfort from her husband’s beating.
Osah lived with her husband of 10-years, Kwabena Oheemeng, 40, and their two children (6-year old girl and 4-year old) buy at Dansoman Last Stop beach road.
She was declared dead at the Korle Bu teaching hospital when she was taken to for treatment by her landlady after suffering some beating from Oheemeng.
Ama Osah’s neighbors said she constantly covered up for Oheemeng, a second hand clothing merchant who persistently beat her up every day.
“I spoke to several individual who knew the lady and there is one thing that runs through their comments, she was constantly beaten up by the man but she would never report him to the police,” a freelance journalist, Frank Darlington Heymann told Ghonetv.com.
“Even when the landlady reported the man, Ama Osah defended and covered up for him and said she did it for the sake of the children,” he added.
The land lady is also reported to have told other neighbours Frank gave a beating to an already sick Osah Tuesday night which resulted in her death on Wednesday morning.
A case has been filed at the Dansoman police station for further investigation.
Meanwhile market women are devastated over the news of their fellow trader.
